Diary

Dear Diary,

It's been only a few days since the adults have disappeared. Lisa goes out everyday to try to find us food. We've been having a simple meal everyday, nothing grand, only soup and crackers. I wish we had more though. Lisa should be coming home any time now. I have to make the fire and then we eat. Before we go to sleep, Lisa tells me the greatest bedtime stories. They are all about Todd and Barney. This morning, Lisa asked me to go get some fish at the pond. Boy! I hope I get one.

                                                              Toddy

Dear Diary,

Guess what? Today, I knocked Tom Logan out by pulling the rockslide. Tom's gang was confused because they didn't know what to do without him. Everyone called me brave and cheered for me. I didn't feel so little anymore. Lisa declared tomorrow the first holiday of Grandville. Not only that, but Lisa also asked me to come to "Secret Place." This is going to be fun, and I get to learn how to drive!

Dear Diary,

Today was just terrible. That stupid Chidester Gang put our house on fire. All our memories of our parents and us together are gone. I wonder how Lisa must've felt. We are at Jill's house, because she took us in. There are too many kids here, including myself. I can't wait to get my hands on those gang members. How dare they burn down my house!

                                                                    From,

                                                                     Todd

Dear Diary,

We just moved into Glenbard about a week ago. Hardly anyone knew, except for Lisa and the captains. We moved in one night and left Grand Avenue completely barren. There's only order in this city. Each child takes classes to become an expert in one field. There's people who cook, are guards, nurses, etc. I think that this city will be sucessful; afterall, it's my older sister who's running it. It's her city.

Dear Diary,

We are at a farm. Glenbard was taken over by Tom Logan's gang. One of his members shot Lisa in the arm, and everyone thought she was dead. I rescued Lisa and Jill, Craig, Erika, and I came here to heal here. Fortunately, Jill got the bullet out and now Lisa is fine. We are trying to think of a plan to get back Glenbard. Although, I don't think Craig cares now. Lisa wants me to go incognito and sneak back into Glenbard. Then I can find out what Tom's plans are and then tell Lisa. Before we know it, Lisa will have Glenbard back.

                                                                          Todd

Dear Diary,

Lisa won back Glenbard. Now, Tom and his gangs are to never bother us again. I have no clue what happened in the room between Lisa and Tom, but let me say this: Lisa is one brave leader. As far as I know, we are going to be staying in Glenbard, for a while.

                                                                  Todd:)

Todd plays an important role in the book. Without Todd, no one wouldve been able to knock out Tom or save his older sister. If Todd didn't rescue Lisa, she probably would've died and never got back her city. After all, Todd was the one who found out Tom's plans after being in disguise. Todd is a dynamic character because he changes through out the story. At first, Toddy Boy is a normal 5 year old, who is afraid a bit because there are no more adults. By the end of the story, we find a Todd, who is brave and mature. If it weren't for Todd, there would be a part of the story missing.
